Rescue|Nurture|Adopt
Our mission is to alleviate the suffering of neglected, abused and abandoned dogs by rescuing and placing them with loving families. We do this by helping to bring together a community of individuals, businesses, and organizations with a shared goal to help dogs in need live a better life.
Ways We Help
Arranging transport from a dog’s current location back to Little Dog Rescue Network and/or to a partner rescue.
Networking with partner rescues to save more dogs.
Providing all necessary medical care to our dogs.
Carefully screen and place dogs in forever homes.
Providing education and support for spay/neuter programs in the community.
Are you a rescue wanting to expand? We identify, source and transport dogs needing rescued. Let’s work together to save more dogs!
-
Rescue
Our dogs are saved from the horrors of over breeding in puppy mills, owner surrenders, overcrowded kill shelters, and the dog meat trade overseas.
-
Foster
Foster Care is critical to our rescue efforts. The more people who are willing to open their homes and hearts, the more dogs we can rescue and save.
-
Adopt
All dogs deserve to have the love and comfort that can only be found in a fur-ever home. We work hard to make this happen for as many dogs as possible .
Where our dogs come from
At Little Dog Rescue we accept dogs from a variety of situations locally, nationally, and internationally. Our sources include owner surrenders, breeder release, out of state kill shelters and international rescue partners. We also attend broker and dog auctions to rescue dogs that otherwise would have been discarded, euthanized or used for endless breeding. We respect that varying opinions exist regarding some of our sources. A great deal of thought and careful consideration went into our decisions, and we choose to show up for the dogs. We strongly believe that all dogs deserve a good home regardless of where they got their start.
Our Adoption Fees
Please note that Little Dog Rescue is a 100% volunteer, nonprofit organization. We do not receive funds from government agencies to help cover expenses. Adoption fees are thoughtfully considered and intentionally set to support the overall work of this rescue. The fee is NOT a purchase price for the dog.
Our adoption fees are based on each dog’s age, breed, and length of stay. Puppies and young purebred and small mixed breed dogs are “highly desirable” and will reflect a higher adoption fee. In addition to daily care costs, the adoption fee helps us cover travel, vaccination and medical costs for all of our dogs. Older pups, special needs dogs and retired breeder dogs come with significant medical expenses…a dental alone on a 5-year-old breeder pup can cost upwards of $1200. The adoption fees for these dogs do not cover even half of the funds required to rescue them and provide the medical care needed.
Our adoption fee is not the cost to buy a dog, but an overall show of support for our mission.
